Mera
Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 26, 2026
Mera collects nothing. No personal data, no usage analytics, no advertising identifiers. The app has no account, no ads, no tracking and no servers of its own. We cannot read your journal, because it never reaches us.
- Your journal (text, photos, videos, tags, location and weather) lives on your iPhone and, when iCloud is on, in your own iCloud storage, which we cannot access. That is how your devices stay in sync.
- A shared journal is shared through iCloud with one person you invite. Only that person can read and edit it, and the entries are then also on their device. The shared journal lives in the iCloud of the person who shares it. You can stop sharing at any time, and the other person can leave on their own.
- Keeping and deleting: everything stays on your device and in your own iCloud for as long as you keep it. To delete it, delete the app and, if you also want the copy in iCloud gone, erase Mera's data in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Mera.
- Location is only used when you add a place to an entry, and only while you use the app. To look up the name of the place and the weather at that moment, the location is sent to Apple's maps and weather services. Mera does not track you and keeps no location history outside your entries.
- Writing suggestions (photos, places and workouts from your day) come from an iOS picker on your device. Mera only sees what you choose, and that goes into your entry.
- Face ID is handled entirely by iOS. Mera only learns whether unlocking succeeded, never anything about your face.
- Spotlight search and the widget use data that stays on your device. With the lock on, the widget shows no titles or photos.
- Import and export happen on your device, with files you choose. An export goes wherever you save it.
Since nothing is collected, nothing is shared with third parties. The app contains no third-party analytics or advertising services. This policy can only change with an app update, and you will find the updated version here.
